Born Ryo started the violin at the age of 11, soon entering The British School in Tokyo whilst studying under Laurent Rougoulet and Mami Teshigawara in Japan. In 2015, he entered to the Royal Academy of Music with scholarship and studying under Richard Deakin, graduating with First-class honours in 2019. He is currently studying under Mayumi Fujikawa, on MMus programme at the Royal Academy of Music. His past solo masterclass experiences include major virtuosos such as Maxim Vengerov, Nicola Benedetti, Ivan Ženatý, and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

 

His solo performances include works such as Bach’s concerto for two violins with violinist Atsuko Honsho, whilst he often carries out short salon in Japan which he recently done in Summer 2018. His attempt of repertoires is wide in range leaping beyond the western classical music, whilst having an experience of recording popular music.

 

Ryo’s chamber music life includes working as a member of Florizel Quartet having numbers of performances also outside London, outside UK. In 2018, they won the Wolfe Wolfinsohn String Quartet Prize for their performance of Mozart's "Hoffmeister" Quartet.

 

Orchestral experiences of Ryo’s include playing under many renowned conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Semyon Bychkov, and Edward Gardner. He has taken part in International Schools Choral Music Society in past, where he was given an opportunity to be part of orchestra performing the premier of Karl Jenkins’ “Qing Zhu” at Forbidden City Hall in Beijing, China. Recent performances include participation in the Elgar Sinfonia of London performing unfinished Elgar’s third symphony with Anthony Payne, the elaborator of the symphony in the audience.
